Bring The Charm Of
No Fish In My Dish
To Your School

No Fish In My Dish is the only children's book that addresses overfishing. In the last 50 years, 90 percent of ocean fish have disappeared. The continuing decline is an environmental catastrophe that children need to understand.

No Fish In My Dish offers a simple solution that anybody can understand: eat fewer fish. The phrase "fewer fish bought means fewer fish caught" captures the spirit of the book. In rhyming words and watercolor illustrations, the book shows a way that kids and families can help stop overfishing.

Fen Montaigne, author of National Geographic magazine's "Still Waters: The Global Fish Crisis" wrote:

"Magically illustrated and lyrically written, No Fish In My Dish takes a tough look at one of the 21st century's most important environmental challenges, but does so in a moving, uplifting way that will delight and inspire children."

Bring this story to life in your school by inviting Jason Kelly for a "No-Fish Day" that will include the No-Fish Game, a reading of the story with help from children, and the opportunity for children to think harder about the issue by creating No-Fish artwork before Jason's visit:

The day gives every child a chance to receive Jason's signature on his or her book and No-Fish hat. The day is a fundraiser, too, because a portion of all sales is donated directly back to your school.

The ideal day consists of four presentations:

  • Youngest grades
  • Middle grades
  • Oldest grades
  • All students and their families
For instance, in a K-5 school the day would have a presentation to K-1, 2-3, 4-5, then all students and families. In a K-6 school the day would have a presentation to K-2, 3-4, 5-6, and then all students and families.

The all-student/family presentation is usually after school, and something fun like a pajama party theme is a good idea:

We would love to work with you to deliver this important message, help children learn, and raise money for your school.
